Community Benefits & Results

After many years of neglect the north-central communities of Edmonton are in need of active involvement to restore and revitalize the area. These communities are in a state of transition. The cultivation of positive urban renewal has begun. Community Response to Urban Disorder (CRUD) is looking to take an active role and work in partnership with community residents, businesses, community groups, the Edmonton Police Service, By-law, and other necessary agencies to eliminate disorder and dangerous properties from the north-central communities. It is not realistic to expect these government agencies to have enough ongoing resources and time to single-handedly take care of such problems. Community members need to actively participate in taking back their neighbourhood, and become part of the solution.

CRUD intends to engage the north-central communities in various levels for positive change; foster community involvement and initiate public dialogue. CRUD is an integral piece of the puzzle that helps to resolve the problem of urban disorder in these communities. Neighbourhoods will become safe, a reduction in crime will occur, property values will return, and many local businesses will see an increase as pro-social pedestrian and commuter traffic resumes.
